Climbing in Sofia for beginners: planning your first visit
Want to try climbing but unsure whether you need your own equipment or can simply walk into the gym? Start with a short conversation with the team. It helps you choose a suitable introduction before buying access to an activity you have not tried.
In Sofia, Athletic Climbing Fit is at 5 Lachezar Stanchev Street, Sopharma Business Towers, Tower A, floor 2. Contact this club to confirm the arrangements for your first climb.
What to ask before you arrive
Explain that this is your first visit and whether you are coming alone, with a friend or with a child. Ask which introductory session is suitable, when an instructor is available and whether you need to book. Opening hours do not guarantee space in an introductory session at every hour.
- What does the visit price include?
- Are instruction and equipment charged separately?
- Which shoes and clothes should you bring?
- Are there age, supervision or briefing requirements?
Speak to the team before buying equipment
Comfortable clothing that allows movement, water and tied-back long hair are practical preparations. Follow the club’s instructions for specialist shoes and equipment. Do not assume everything is supplied free or that your own equipment is automatically suitable.
Listen to the safety briefing before starting: where to stand, how each area works and when assistance is required. This article does not replace instruction and is not a guide to belaying or rope handling.
A day pass or a longer plan?
As of 1 November 2026, the club page lists a day pass at €8, an adult monthly pass at €50 and a €35 monthly payment under an annual subscription. These involve different commitments. Confirm the total cost of your introductory visit, including any additional services.
Ask about a single visit while getting to know the venue. Consider a longer plan once you know when and how you will climb. Check current terms before paying.
Coming with a child?
The club advertises a separate climbing activity for children aged 3–5, with advance booking. This is different from adult access. Confirm the appropriate group, accompanying-adult requirements and availability for your child.
Take the next step
Open the club page and ask: “This is my first visit. I would like to confirm the session, equipment and total price.” Do not assume the standard fitness Free Pass automatically covers climbing or an instructor.
