- Fitball for Beginners: What to Expect and Where to Try It in Sofia
Looking for a group workout that offers something different from barbells, step platforms or dance routines? Fitball is a class using a large exercise ball, with an emphasis on movement control, coordination and balance. If you have never trained with one before, start by choosing a suitable class and letting the instructor know you are a beginner.
Athletic Yanko Sakazov in Sofia offers Fitball and Power Fitball classes. Here is how to prepare and what to check before booking.
Choose a convenient time for your first fitball class
Check the current schedule at Athletic Yanko Sakazov and the available places. If you are unsure which format to choose, ask the team which class suits your experience.
What is a fitball workout?
The main piece of equipment is a large inflatable exercise ball. It may provide support or be used in different exercises, depending on the task demonstrated by the instructor. Working with it requires attention to your body position and how you perform each movement.
Rather than trying to complete as many repetitions as possible, follow the technique instructions and choose a variation you can control. You do not need to know all the exercises beforehand.
What should you expect from your first class?
The exact content depends on the format and instructor. Before it starts, explain that this is your first fitball class and ask how to choose a ball and a space in the studio. Follow the demonstrations and ask for clarification if you do not understand a movement.
- Start at a controlled pace. You do not need to perform every variation you see around you straight away.
- Leave room to move. Arrange your equipment as the instructor directs.
- Ask for an alternative. If a task feels too challenging, discuss a more accessible variation with the instructor.
Fitball or Power Fitball — how do you choose?
Both formats appear in the Yanko Sakazov schedule. Do not choose by name alone: ask about the intensity, pace and experience needed for the specific class. This will give you guidance about the actual session you plan to attend.
When checked on 19 October 2026, Fitball and Power Fitball sessions in the schedule lasted 50 minutes. They were led by Dobi Eremieva, with Denitsa Stoyanova leading some Fitball sessions. Always check the current calendar before your next visit, as times and instructors may change.
What should you bring, and how do you book?
Bring comfortable sports clothing, clean shoes, water and a towel. Check with the team beforehand whether anything else is needed for your chosen class, and allow time to get changed and find your way around.
- Open the Athletic Yanko Sakazov club page.
- Find the group training schedule section and select “View schedule”.
- Find Fitball or Power Fitball and check the time, instructor and available places.

If this is your first Athletic visit, you can request a Free Pass. Before attending, confirm with the team whether you can use it for your chosen fitball class and whether a reservation is required. For regular visits, explore the current membership options.
Take a clear next step
